Chapter from the 3rd std text book, The Talking Train

Step 1. Content analysis

The train, in 1st person, RailRaja talking to the children, an imaginative conversation, self descriptive. 

List of words: engine, boggies ,forests,tunnels,rivers,bridges,deserts,fields,valleys,mountains,ponds,lakes,cities, villages, rich,poor,young,old ( common nouns and adjectives.) 

Adjectives: rich,poor,young,old,green,red

Verbs: moving, waving

Scope for reinforcement of opposites, and conjunctions.

Teaching learning material :flash cards, story flip charts, worksheets

Followup activity : Students to discuss on a Travel bag, in 1st person.

Step 2: listing down aims and objectives, listening ,speaking skills, reading and writing skills.

Specific objectives :vocabulary development, Reinforcement of Grammar rules, building logical reasoning and application skills.

Step 3 : Set induction: picture conversation

Step4 : Model reading of the lesson with  the correct pronunciation and diction, with the right pauses and intonation..( enhancing listening skills ) 

Step 5 : Activities in the text book and correlate with Math, ( number of passengers, number of bogies, number of stations, distance and time ) Telugu, ( bilingual method, translation )  EVS , ( locomotive industry , coal, diesel, electric)Art and Music ( Discussion, charts , action songs, drawing and colouring ) 

Step 6 : Recapitulation, questions and answers , review the text and revise, random selection of students in reading aloud. ( listening and concentration) 

Step 7 : Worksheet for HW and value based discussion ( keeping trains clean, buying of tickets  ) 

Step 8 : An autobiography of a Travel bag. 

Step 9 : Ask students to prepare an imaginary story on The Railway Station.
