Gender Equity, the concept
Equality of Opportunities
Believing that the divine creation is with a purpose and each has a role to play, then there is no need for any discrimination between any gender. Gender is a definitive term that tells us visibly the appearance of a man between a woman. Given the opportunities, both show equal proficiency, be it the armed forces, police forces, air force, doctors, engineers , business , teaching, administration, political leadership, ....name it women have been equally successful, as much as men.
Gender equity starts early in life. Parenting plays an important role. Equality of opportunities when provided ,the right type of empathy and sympathy follows when role playing. If a man can become a chef, so can a woman work in an office. Education is a great leveler and finding the right type of educational opportunities is important, as suitable to the child, even within the school, the right opportunities need to be provided.
The girls need not be only at the doll corner, they can equally construct and create with blocks, innovate and construct like engineers, be doctors, be in the armed forces, travel space, be an astronaut, an astronomer, a physicist ....a business woman.
They could be leading groups of entrepreneurs, be problem solvers....
In the homes, they could be managers, efficiently managing finances and nurturing discipline within the family members.
Their presence is magnanimous in every field. They walk shoulder to shoulder with the opposite set and provide equal partnership in every field so to say.
Androgynous personalities are being encou5both at school and at home. The pass percentageof girls in all fields is very encouraging, way ahead of the boys.
The concept of gender equity is not new, historical figures world over have contributed to many subject content, from sciences to fine arts.
In the field of Research they have excelled. When we train the girl child equal to the boy child, the overall percapita income of a nation rises. The women are thus found to be gritty, determined, focused, and worldly wise. A happy woman makes a happy nation. Let's begin the process by treating them with dignity.
